When Monika relocated to San Diego for a new job opportunity, she found a beautiful condo in the heart of Carmel Valley. The space had great potential, but the dated flooring didn’t reflect her modern, coastal style. She began searching online for a trusted local flooring contractor who could help remove the old floors and install something fresh throughout the condo — everywhere except the bathrooms.

When she reached out to us, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that she lived just a mile from my own home. That made it easy to stop by with a wide selection of vinyl plank samples so she could see how each color looked alongside her cabinets, wall tones, and existing tile.

After reviewing several options, we landed on a natural light oak wide plank from Prime Premium, a stunning color called “Seaside Village.” The tone offered a perfect blend of warmth and brightness — exactly what the condo needed to feel both cozy and spacious.

On this particular project we were able to retain the existing tile installed on concrete, which is permitted as long as it’s secure and you grind over it then apply leveler to prepare for the new flooring downstairs.

We also removed the carpet on the stairs, hallway, and two bedrooms upstairs. Once the installation was complete, the difference was remarkable. The lighter wood tones reflected natural light beautifully, making the entire condo feel more open and airy.

The finished result not only modernized the space but also gave it that relaxed coastal feel that fits perfectly with Carmel Valley’s relaxed lifestyle.

If you’re considering a flooring upgrade in Carmel Valley, especially one that enhances light and space, this kind of transformation shows what’s possible with the right product and professional installation.
