Recently, we had the pleasure of helping a client restore a charming home located in the heart of La Jolla Shores. Built in the 1960s, the house held years of family memories—but it also needed some serious updating.

The homeowners began their renovation journey by replacing the lower-level bedroom floors with modern vinyl and swapping out the carpet in the upstairs game room and den. One of the biggest challenges, however, was the hardwood flooring.

Over the years, their parents had installed a variety of oak floors throughout the home—each space featuring a different style and color. The kitchen, hallway, dining room, and master bedroom all had distinct finishes, creating a disjointed look.

As part of the renovation, the family also removed the old cabinetry and wiring, making way for new custom cabinets, updated appliances, and sleek countertops. That’s where we stepped in.

Our team carefully filled in missing sections of the hardwood, then sanded the entire surface to create a smooth, unified base. By applying a light, natural stain, we were able to seamlessly blend the different wood styles, bringing cohesion and warmth to the entire space.

The result?

A beautifully refreshed home where old and new come together effortlessly—perfect for making new memories while honoring the past. Call us for your next home flooring upgrade project.
