This beautiful Poway home came to us through another great referral from our friends at Beach City Stairs. Their client wanted to remove a partial pony wall to open up the lower staircase and create a more modern, spacious feel.

The downstairs had already been remodeled several years ago, and the homeowners absolutely loved their existing hardwood flooring. The challenge? That exact product had since been discontinued. Our task was to find a new option that matched as closely as possible.

After reviewing several carefully selected samples, the homeowners fell in love with a gorgeous Brazilian Teak hardwood from Indus Parquet. The tone and grain blended nearly perfectly with the existing floors. The finished result is a seamless transition from downstairs to upstairs—so natural, you’d never know the floors were installed years apart.

Upstairs presented a different challenge. Multiple remodels over the years had left the subfloor uneven, requiring extensive prep work. We spent extra time repairing and leveling the surfaces to create a strong, stable foundation before installing the hardwood. The extra effort was worth it—the new floors look flawless and feel solid underfoot.

A favorite detail of the project was the master closet. With the new floor leveled perfectly, the homeowners chose to complete the look by upgrading to a modern sliding barn door from Barn Door Dudes. The change not only improved functionality but also added a clean, stylish finish. Unfortunately we never got to see those installed.

What began as a simple staircase update evolved into a full upstairs transformation. Out went the worn carpet, and in came rich, natural hardwood that added warmth, character, and timeless beauty. The best part? The look on our client’s face when they saw the finished project—pure satisfaction.
