When a local realtor referred this project to us, the homeowners had a clear vision: replace the upstairs carpet with beautiful new luxury vinyl plank flooring that would complement the discontinued flooring already installed downstairs. The goal was to create a cohesive look throughout the home while giving the staircase a fresh, custom appearance.

Before we could begin, the existing stair components needed to be removed. The stair railing company carefully removed the old stair railings and false treads, then installed the new posts and handrail, preparing the staircase for our flooring installation.

Next, our team stepped in to prepare the upstairs for its transformation. We removed all of the existing carpet and padding, exposing the subfloor and creating a clean, solid surface ready for the new flooring.

For the new installation, we selected flooring from the For the new installation, we selected flooring from the Moda Living Indie Pro Collection, extending the new vinyl plank throughout the upper landing, main walkway, and den. The flooring was chosen specifically to blend beautifully with the existing downstairs flooring, creating a natural transition between the two levels despite the original flooring being discontinued. , extending the new vinyl plank throughout the upper landing, main walkway, and den. One of the standout design details of this project was the staircase. The homeowners loved the classic, high-contrast look of white stair risers, which provide a crisp visual separation between each step and beautifully complement the new flooring. The result is a staircase that feels brighter, cleaner, and more custom while adding character to the entire space.

From coordinating with the stair railing company to carefully matching new flooring with an existing finish, this project is a great example of how thoughtful material selection and attention to detail can transform a home without sacrificing the character of the original design. Although the flooring was slightly darker they loved the rich tones and want to upgrade the downstairs to match the stairs on their next upgrade.
