Mike came to us looking to update the hardwood flooring in this 80s style original custom build home in Fairbanks Ranch.

He wanted to stay with the unique style of the custom build but update some of the older ideas like carpet insets, carpeted game room and the older very busy looking nail plug look of this 3, 5, 7 width hardwood.

Mike wanted to keep the traditional style of the home when selecting this rustic grade hardwood flooring but wanted a more modern style without all those plugs and carpeted areas.

He did retain the uniqueness of the loft entrance by spiral staircase for practicality and thinks his kids will love it.

Unfortunately, the home had some unique leveling challenges. You can see here that the level was off by almost 2”. We filled in the back side to create a new smooth floor so the kids’ toys won’t be rolling out the back door.

For some reason the home has multiple tile types, multiple wood styles and different carpets throughout the house. One of the biggest projects was to get rid of this large ramp to the master bedroom and also replace the white brick covering the steps with this great new hardwood to give the smaller master bedroom a more cohesive open look.

This is only the first phase for this project. Once they get moved in and settle in on some of the other ideas they will open up the first floor to the stunning backyard pool and probably add in some La Cantina doors to really make this a fun home for their family. Stay tuned.
